Sofia
This project represents the transformation of a prefabricated panel apartment into a contemporary and functional home. Located in the Suha Reka neighborhood of Sofia, the apartment offers a compact space that was reimagined to combine coziness, aesthetics, and practicality. The main goal was to create smooth transitions between rooms and to use the space as efficiently as possible.
We began with the living room, which was turned into a cozy area for relaxation and gatherings with friends. To optimize the space, part of the long enclosed balcony—previously used for storage—was integrated and transformed into a dining area with direct access to the kitchen. This change also brought additional light and a sense of spaciousness to the living area. The kitchen was redesigned into a modern and functional space with extra working surfaces. Moving the dining table into the living area allowed for a larger kitchen with a convenient countertop by the window, ideal for the owner who enjoys cooking. The color palette in this area and the hallway includes shades of blue and wood, combined with light walls and black accents.
The bathroom underwent a complete renovation to combine contemporary design with maximum comfort, while maintaining the overall color scheme. In the bedroom, we also rethought the layout by incorporating the remaining part of the enclosed balcony, which allowed for the creation of a transitional walk-in wardrobe. To create a sense of depth and openness, we used a floor-to-ceiling mirror, which serves both as an aesthetic and functional highlight.
The “Cobalt River” project demonstrates how even an old panel apartment can be transformed into a modern and comfortable home. The combination of elegant colors, well-considered spatial reorganization, and personalized solutions turned this apartment into a place that meets the needs of contemporary living.
